Got $12,250.00 Burning a hole in your Pocket?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No, it's called a retirement account.

Carbon Fiber?!! You're just asking for a cataclysmic failure and horrendous crash. Cast Iron for me, baby.

I really like how tight they're getting the wheelbase...there's now a cutout in the downtube for the front wheel. That's pretty slick. Just throw on a Brooks Team Pro, and you'd have a bike!

...uh, CastIron that was just a strange, planets-aligned, voodoo conspiracy that made me say Cast Iron in my post. I've gotta take a nap.

Yeah, I heard from a guy anecdoctally, as I understand it, maybe that this happened from carrying a scratched CF bike on the back of a jeep near salty air in the sunlight:

Made me wonder. Stranger still: My road ride actually has a Brooks Team Pro on it.

Cheers! Me too. Just got it, and only has 68 'break in' miles on it. Most comfortable saddle I've ever been on. The a$$ hatchet on this BMC looks oh so uncomfortable.

damn.I thought it was ok with that Zipp wheel set, but we're looking at 20 large ones for the total bike...still cooler than a Honda Civic.

Or.. for half that, you can get the full monty..

If you owned a sports bar and you bought it to hang on the wall as a decoration, would you be able to write it off?

It looks fast but I can't decide if it looks as fast as the Cervelo P3 Carbon. Maybe we could rent one for a hour.

No, you have to remember that a bike like that is a Weapon of War for a world class athlete. On most of ther rest of us it would be like the old guy who bought a Ferrari with an automatic...

^^^

Did we not have this discussion when discussing the whole 9999.99 trek madone sslx a few weeks back?

IMO if you are even fast enough to be winning the local stuff and the 10 - 20 seconds max you would save is the difference, sure spend the money. It is like spending 9k on an english horn or 7k on an oboe if it is going to help you get that primary seat in the group. There are so much more out there that would be nearly as good for half the money, OCP or not.
