My Garmin Edge 305 Bundle Shipping Tomorrow

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Do you think Garmin realizes once you zip em closed you cannot get them off? If your expecting a unit, and you don't have zip ties be sure to pick up a couple, cause your going to have to cut off the ones that came with it to install.
Yep mine shipped the same way. Battery in backwards, and zip ties pre-closed. I used a small watch screwdriver to hold down the tab and was able to disengage the zip ties so I could re-use them. I have to admit though that my first thought was that their had to be some logical way to use them as Garmin had provided, but eventually came to the conclusion that it was just a Garmin packaging blunder (great product though).

Has anyone attempted to use a polar or other heart rate monitor with the 305 yet?

Well, mine left NY yesterday and should be here Tuesday according to FedEx, since the cadence unit shipped directly from Amazon via USPS, who knows when it will arrive. Looking forward to some insight from you guys using it this weekend.

I can't wait to hear the actual reviews on this. It's come down to the Polar S725X vs. Garmin Edge 305HR for me. Would like to hear the review of the software as well, especially from those that have used the Polar system.

Took mine out on a short 20 mile ride yesterday. Everything works great! The training software is a higher version than what came with the Forerunner 301, but I didn't really notice any big differences.

I would like to pick up an extra cadence sensor for my trainer though. Anyone know of any place that has them in stock?

The motionbased forums have a pretty good discussion going with some actual 305 owners

Well I ordered mine from some guy on eBay who had a couple of them at the time. Honestly it turned out to be a pretty big gamble as the guy has poor feedback (stupid me for not looking until after I hit BIN). I am pretty much just hoping I am not going to have to file with my CC company that I got the shaft but the guy has stayed in contact and said he shipped it yesterday. From WV even by USPS it can't take more than 3-4 days I figure so I should have it by the middle of next week. Here is to keeping my fingers crossed.

Duh, I just realized, if I read the thread carefully, I'd remember you mentioned that before. I guess I'm your Ant, just lounging around making you work (answering my question which you already answered earlier in the thread)... unless it was the Grasshopper who was the lazy one while the Ant worked. Who knows.

I hope you get it soon too! I want to see pictures.

The only $300 deal that I know of were the 2 that were sold on Ebay $300 + $4.99 S/H.

I think someone else got a $300 deal from one of the companies...

Using the GPS with Google Earth is awesome because it maps the route and you can visually see where you went; furthermore, with Google Earth you can fly through your route...

Awesome stuff... Just cannot wait until I receive mine...

$300 from planetgps.com... you can get the hrm unit and cad sensor for $300 after a $104 instant rebate... check their site. They don't have any in stock currently but are shipping as they arrive.

Also, getfeetwet.com has a deal I've heard of... no confirmation though.

Caligurl: You go to the site and search for edge 305. Then click on the item, in the description is the code for the discount. This is their way to get around the "minimum advertised price" issue and you can apply the discount code to the item when you check out. Seemed to work fine, and there are a few decent reviews of planetgps.net on a few sites. That being said I used a one time use credit card number because I am just not that trusting

Until someone gets something from them I suggest using a no liability credit card.

305HR

Cali, you might try www.getfeetwet.com. If you call them and request one they should email you a coupon code for $100 off on the bundle. I have no idea if they have any in stock, but their address says they are in Simi Valley, which may be fairly close to where you're at.

Thanks to R900 for posting the info on the cadence sensors. Got one on they way.

Well my speed sensor arrived this morning USPS from Amazon, the head unit is supposed to be on a FedEx truck for delivery this afternoon, so hopefully I can get it charged today and get a little test in Tuesday.

Keeping my fingers crossed - John

P.S. Caligurl, you might try Amazon, there is a secondary seller selling them for $335 shipped...
