My grandmother lives in Tillamook and can't get out of town at the moment. I'm waiting for her email to tell me that we need to call a helicopter to lift her off the roof before the floodwaters consume the house ;)

Day 28 here in Olympia! Look at my back yard, I lost about 75' to the lake. I have to move everything out of the tractor shed & I need hip waders to get to my dock. We did have some sun breaks Saturday & Sunday but it went right back to rain again today. Don

Talk about some messed up weather this winter. Lake Fork where my parents have a place the lake is down 6+ feet. Our 25' dock is high and dry and the water's edge is a few feet beyond it now even.

Note: let's see if this post goes through...

Genesis makes such a big deal about having 40 days and 40 nights of rain, but that's considered normal winter weather here in the Pacific Northwest.

Yea I am missing a post I made...trying to decide if I should bother to write it again...think I will wait for the forum to seem to be running properly again. Funny thing is I was on another bike forum today and they were trying to figure out why they aren't taking off...even not working properly this forum has more members viewing than the other forum even has signed up and several thousand more guese viewing currently.

Two things I learned this weekend while riding through a stretch of bike path that was covered in 6 inches of water: going fast through the water is a bad idea, forgeting to lift up my feet made for some very wet Sidi's.

Here in Georgia we’ve had quite a lot of rain recently – but not 20 straight days. We did have winds gusting to 40mph on Saturday – that was a fun ride! I just looked at the regional radar and there’s a big mass of wet weather heading east toward Georgia from Alabama. The availability of various radars on the internet is very helpful, BTW.

ja... i finally took advantage of our brief sunbreak yesterday and put in a measly 20 miles.... and then, about an hour after i got home, it /poured/. at least it's sorta warm, eh?

Paul L. 01-16-06 01:24 PM

Dang! send some of that rain down here! we haven't had a drop since August.

gcasillo 01-16-06 02:33 PM

On behalf of the folks in my neck of the woods where the last month has been unseasonably fabulous (50s and 60s!), I would like to thank....errr...express my sorrow for the suffering you have endured in the NW (torrential rains) and SW (wildfires) to make my pleasurable riding this January possible. You're the best. :p

cuda2k 01-16-06 02:53 PM

quite welcome gcasillo. Riding weather in Dallas hasn't been too bad as long as you aren't downwind from a fire or fighting a headwind of 15-35mph.

hi565 01-16-06 05:06 PM

bummer!

well looks like its time to buy a boat eh? :D

msheron 01-16-06 05:17 PM

20 days of rain= a sloppy mess!

Jarery 01-16-06 08:42 PM

Our record is 28 days of rain, set in 1953. Last week we hit 27 days then it didnt rain on sunday. 27 days then sun, go figure. So no new record.

Next day...rain.....
14 day extended forecast.....rain

I still ride 50k a day, commuting. But damn i could use a week of high wind, or snow, anything but more rain....
