which road racing shoe?
Hey, im getting my pair of road racing shoes, and really am having a hard time narrowing it down, in both terms of company and individual shoes. Right now im thinking of DMT ultimax, Shimano R215, Diadora ProRacer Carbon, Northwave Revenge or Aerator 3-strap. Im open to any suggestions.

It is all a matter of fit and preference. I have two pair of Shimano shoes (MTB and Road) and love them both. They both fit perfectly and are very comfortable. I can't complain. Someone else might hate them because they don't fit their feet well. Just like anything you wear it is all about fit when you are comparing products with similar, quality materials.

Rocket7 It is a matter of fit and these are custom molded carbon, molded to your foot. Very light, Very stiff, Very comofrtable, Very expensive.

If you can, try them on. You should choose whichever gives you a good fit, because they are all so similar in every other way. Think of it this way - good fit = optimum power output = ride faster!

Lake has a pair out that will custom mold to your foot, supposedly. Cheaper than full custom, but custom fit nonetheless.

Carbon for sure. I used to have a set of those Ventoux's with the plastic soles and I could feel them flexing ever so slightly when I was climbing.

I like the Specialized shoes but only because they seem to fit my feet better. I haven't tried too many different road shoes though.

If weight is a concern, check out the shimano R-151. It has the same sole as the one you mentioned but weighs a ton (100g or so) less.
It amazes me how peolple are all insane about titanium and carbon pedals, when their shoes have rachets and cables and all sorts of heavy gizmos built into them
My (pride in ownership) vote, shimano r-151. Stiff, Light, Good. cheaper too.

Another vote for Shimano. I have road and MTB shoes, been very pleased with them. I prefer the simple three velcro straps, keeps the weight down and it feels more natural to me. They fit securly with just the 3 straps and no ratchet system.

great F'ing shoes although mine are G4s but still fantastic. i got team shoes this year that I was suppose to wear but they were awful (brand to remain nameless as it's not listed in the original post). I bagged on the pimpy team shoes and wore my old G4 Carbons all year and probably will again this year.
