Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Weight Watchers anyone?

Has anyone got the SRP duar ace ti bolt kit on their ride? I am a self proclaimed weight watcher and am trying to get the thing to 15.5 lbs. How much does that shave and besides getting a race wheel like a Zip 303 what could be the biggest weight saving feature? I already have all dura-ace except brake calipers, and a carbon drop bar, and a deda newton stem. Granted, I am not trying to go to the stupid light components, I am still concerned about the safety of everything on the bike, but I think I can get it close to 15 without getting stupid light. The Deda stem is an exception, as there have been problems with the faceplates on last years models cracking and bolts shearing off. Any suggestions?

It's pointless, but a good money disposal project, if you are dragging around any extra bacon and and fitness is not perfect.

It seems to me that for most riders, the best way to drop a couple pounds would be off the stomac, and probably cheaper too! Though a bit more effort.

Personally I think it would be stupid to spend so much to save a handful of grams.

However as far as safety is concerned - They are just as good as stock items.

Save weight? There are crucial parts. However sometimes for safety reasons there is a point where you can no longer go lighter.

I seena few guys through out the years with bikes as low as 12 lbs. However none of these bikes can really be ridden. Usually whees fall apart after a few miles or braking is so inefficient that is doesn't really stop safely. Not to mention very uncomfortable bars and seats.

I hat eto say this but stop, save some money for the future or other hobbies or for your family. Just go out there, ride and make friends and have a great time.

I got rid of my bike rack and my kick stand....that really helped me a lot. Oh yeah and those little clicking things that go on the spokes....wow, I had no idea how those things effected my aero-dynamics. Just teasing! Your bike sounds pretty light already. Sorry I had to be a smart ass.

my bike is 16 lbs..

however, i feel that losing my own weight will give me better performance... 4 months ago, i was 153 lbs, now, 143 lbs.. that 10 lbs is the best 'upgrade' i've done..

i climb hills a lot easier now and could simply accelerate like crazy..

8 more lbs and i'll reach my optimum weight..

and guess what, its definitely a lot cheaper too..

I know take a extra link off that chain

How about the seatpost? THe saddle? My bike weighs between 15.5 and 16 pounds.. it's all carbon.

How about going to a carbon crank and a TI bottom bracket? I did that upgrade recently,FSA Ti BB and FSA Team Issue Carbon Crankset.. Had to have my cranks match the bike
