Sorry...meant to post this in Bike Mechanics
Ordering some wheels from Sheldon built with 126 hubs that accept Hyperglide. Slide on a 9 spd cassette less one cog, lock down and my 80's bike is set to go. The Question:
I'd like to go with a 12-25 9spd cassette, drop the 12 cog and lock down with the 13 being my outer, last cog. BUT, I've noticed some serrations on the inside of the lock ring that match the outside of the 12th cog.
How significant are those matching serrations? Will I have any problems locking the ring on a "smooth" 13 cog. (Because I have to lose a cog for spacing, I want to make it that smallest cog which I would use least and thereby have no major gearing jumps on the cassette.)
