Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Since when can your bib make u ride faster???

I've never heard anything like this, can someone more knowledgeable than I please confirm. I am particularly interested in the last line (in bold)

Assos 2004 FI.13 Bib Shorts
The FI.13 bib short is arguably the most comfortable and best performing short available. Elastic Interface Technology in the chamois allows it to stretch with the short and follow your skin as you pedal, eliminating irritation-causing friction. The padding under the chamios outer layer uses memory foam which conforms to your body shape.

The fabric and cut of the bib provides an excellent fit and minimizes fabric bunching at your abdoman when you're in the drops. The unique short material and shape is designed to provide compression of specific muscle groups resulting in more power and less fatigue.

Powerlifters have special suits to increase how much they lift, so why can't we have special shorts to make us go faster?

fabric compression technology helps fight off fatigue, and improve circulation, which would help to keep you faster.

a good friend, who works for one of the biggest sports wear companies in the world, and works specifically with research into all of the latest and greatest in fabric technologies, only wears assos.

I have noticed the effect of compression lycra in swimming - it significantly increases the distance I can do underwater dolphin kick on one breath. I guess the same principles apply, more power and less fatigue.
