What makes you consider whose Pro?

Notices
Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

What do you guys here consider makes you pro?

-That you ride organized rides and events.

-Or you have a sponsor and get paid to ride.

I would think unless you get paid to ride, your not a pro. Usually that is how a professional is designated. Like amateur golfers compared to pro golfers. They can compete on the USGA but can't take money.

Just wondering. I assume 99.9% of us here are just novice riders who love the sport!

I am not a Pro..............don't get paid and don't even ride in a club with sponsors or bikes given to me. I see alot of bikers with the jerseys and that pretty fangled stuff that look good but don't really ride that strong from what I see. I think they just want to look cool and like a Pro.

I ride for the exercise and the solitude at times.

I guess I want feedback as to why you or what you view makes one a Pro. Also, do you see wanna be's as much as I do on the road who look cool but really are no stronger than anyone else out there.

I would vote part number three and part number one. There are a lot of pro's out there that get paid or just product but still have to work another job or have a spouse support them. Until you reach the big time there isn't much money in cycling.
