I'm on a 10 yr old custom BREW bike with 8-speed Dura-Ace and I want to get a compact crankset. I don't recall whether my current BB threading in BSC or Italian or whatever. Do I need to know that when I get a new crankset since I'll be replacing the BB anyway?

What's a good, not-too-spendy, "no need for superlight cuz I'm a Clydesdale" compact crankset out now? Excelsports.com has some discontinued FSA's on sale. Any red alerts on them?

Compact? u dont need to get a new set of cracks for that... well maybe :p... change the big chairing for a 50T one and the small one for a 39T one.. all set :p...

U should have english thread on that thing... not even italians are using italian thread now a days.. besides u dont need to recall your current bb thread... the only thing u need is to put on your glasses and see what the CUPS letters say u know... gezzz... 10 years using a bike u dont even fix eh? :P... amateurs...!!! :p (just kidding OK?)

cya :)
