Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pulled the trigger

Just place an order for a Lemond Sarthe from LBS! Hopefully will be in early next week! Well under $1,500 with Ultegra and good components! I will put on LOOK Keo pedals. Now have to decide on a replacement saddle and whether to swap out the 25c tires with 23c which I am used to?

Nice. Your gonna post pics when it comes in right? What LBS did you go through. There are a few down there I stop at when in the area for work. I'd say, if your used to 23c's, swap 'em out and keep the 25's for spares/bad weather.

My next bike will be a Lemond, and the Sarthe does look sexy. Are you gonna keep the Allez?

I just rode an 06 Sarthe and I probably will be ordering one as well. My LBS quoted me $1,300 and change. We will see if he can keep his end of the deal. I have been test riding all types of bikes, alum, alum/carbon, carbon, ect... , but the Sarthe really stood out. My test ride person went along on a Sarthe as well and she was ready to get rid of her alum bike and get a Sarthe! She had never ridden a steel bike and was blown away by it. BTW, just for grins, I had them do a side by side weigh in between the Sarthe and an all carbon Trek 5200 and the Trek came in two pounds heavier! The Sarthe was about 19.5 pounds.
