Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Equipe vs Open Pro

Would you consider a mavic Open Pro w/105 hubs an upgrade to the Mavic Equipe that were stock on a Spec. Roubaix pro? I have my doubts since the net weight is about the same. But the open pro rims are much lighter then the equipe rims according to LBS . Also they state that since the weight of the rim spins on a much larger radius than the hubs it is more important to have light rims than light hubs. Makes a certain amount of sense to me . Was looking for some race rims for sundays and continue to ride and train on the Equipe. Please do not advise to sink $900 in some SL's. If i had the money it would already be done.

I'd stick with what you have. Any reduction in rim weight is likely lost in increased aerodynamic drag.

The two options are too close to make any difference. I'd stick with what you have.
