Garmin Edge Heart Rate Strap Question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Garmin Edge Heart Rate Strap Question

Hey. I currently have a garmin forerunner 301 and I have an extra heart rate strap (after a warranty issue garmin sent me two). Can I buy the 305CAD Edge and use this heart rate strap or do I need to buy a special one - ie, is the edge coded and special?

Thanks
Adam

What is the model number of the one on your Forerunner?

The one from my Edge says Garmin HRM-1 heart rate monitor on the back. If yours says the same I would say buying the 305 CAD is the way to go.

My Forerunner 301 HRM strap does not work with the Edge 305. Found out by rushing to ride and I put the wrong strap on only too find I had no HR reading on the Edge.

Did you try rematching when you did that? If you were matched to the other strap it shouldn't have worked as they code to each other to avoid interference.
