Hi, I have a 2006 model Schwinn Varsity, and was wondering what I can and CANNOT do with this bike, and where I can and cannot take this.
Also, will the METRO (Seattle, WA) bus racks, do any damage to the tires? Will it hold there? A little information would be helpful. Okay on Sidewalks? Is slime bad to put in the tires or okay? Also, does anyone know if AirZound is legit in WA? Thanks. Edit:// added a few more questions. Thanks. |
You probably shouldn't take it on single track trails in the mountains. The bike probably would not perform well off road in swamps or on the beach. But for any and all road biking applications, it should be fine.
I take my road bike on the bus racks all the time with no problems. Slime will make your tires heavy and not as much fun to ride. Instead get some kevlar belted tires (Continental Gatorskins, Specialized Armadillos, or Bontrager Hardcases all work well.) |
Added two more questions. Thanks to anyone who answers this.

No bike is OK on sidewalks if you are 8 years of age or have completed the second grade. If they let you join Cub Scouts, ride in the street.
Air zound is just a horn. Don't see why not. |
BTW, where did you get your Schwinn Varsity?
|
*cringe* I was afraid someone would ask this, WalMart. I know, I'm ashamed.

Precaution not percaution.

Do not, at all cost, ride on the sidewalk. There are numerous articles about how dangerous it is.
Never ever use Slime. Just wait when you get a blowout :D You'll be cursing yourself You should do fine, airhorn should be fine |
That bike has an all aluminum frame, steel forks and aluminum seatpost. I have one also and it was a very stiff and jolting ride. I changed seatpost to carbon fiber and the front fork to CF and bought a Selle gel seat. Much better and more comfortable.
