Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am in the market for a new bike. I used to have a Litespeed Antares. I need a bike for general racing. I would just readjust it for climbing, sprinting and tt rides. Any suggestions for bikes in the 4k range? I was thinking about a Giant TCR since I had one years back and liked it. Thanks for the help."

I would suggest that you look to see what your peers are using in the event(s) that you will participate in. And ride everything that may suit your need. Disregard the brand name and fix your sights on suitability for the purpose. This time of year, you may even find a good used one and be able to save some serious dollars. Take your time, be patient, the perfect bike is out there. It has your name on it.

Titanium bikes can be made as stiff as you require. It's not necessarily the material that determines stiffness, it's how the bike is made. Litespeed for instance, makes a whole range of bikes for a wide variety of uses. Ranging from the Arenburg to the Vortex.

How about custom? Serotta, Seven, Merlin or Spectrum for Ti. Or Strong, Serotta, Hunter for steel, to name a very few.

Are you riding in a College club? If so, what does your coach say? Is your club sponsored? If so, what do your sponsors say?
