Anyone ever have this happen? What did you do?
1. Press on and complete your miles
2. Stop, go to the fridge to make a PB&J and resume the ride

Yes, many times. Not unusual at all and the best thing about it is you're home!
To answer your Q, get some food in, take a break and get back on when you feel better to complete your mileage.

I once asked her to make and pass me a sustanance bag , you know, like the ones passed to the riders during a race. I was on the trainer. .... she called me a name.

I almost did today, but I was hovering around my LT for a couple hours, varying gearing and my HR. When the legs would noticably start to have no juice left in 'em, I'd just shift down a gear or two and spin a bit, and then ramp it back up. Took in a GU gelpack about 50 minutes into the workout, and drank two 28 oz. bottles of that GU electrolyte crap during the ride. I think if I tried to go for 3 hours today, it would've been game over at around 2:20.

I can't imagine riding a trainer for more than two hours. Ugh. Boredom.

Yeah, I'll admit it can get a bit boring after a couple hours.....I've done 3 hours before, although I do want to try a "trainer century" in the next few weeks. Should be a real character builder.
Fortunately I have a TV with a built in DVD/VCR and cable hooked up in front of my bike. Makes it a bit more managable.

Nice setup.....is your fan remote-controlled too?
I don't have aerobars though....I have a treadmill that sits right next to my bike that makes a great towel holder, and some bar stools on the other side of my bike that hold the TV remote, fan remote, water bottles, and GU.

Wow... some of you guys have incredible dedication. I can't imagine riding on a trainer for long enough to bonk. I usually don't even need to bother with water seeing as my trainer rides are so short.

This is why I pay so much for housing in California, so I'll never have experience bonking on a trainer. I've never spent more than 45 minutes on the trainer.

it's hard to get started again. usually i grab 3-4 pbnjs, eat 2, and leave the other 2 right next to me when i get started again. as long as there's a good game or movie marathon on tv, 2-4 hrs on the trainer is alot better than not being able to feel your hands/feet for at least an hour after you're inside after a cold weather ride. plus your bike stays nice and clean

My trainer rides are typically 2-4 hours long. Occasionally i work out while watching a movie, but honestly I love my trainer (Tacx I-Magic). If you have never tried one of these, you might be surprised at how tolerable indoor rides can become.
As to the bonk, if you arent eating right from the beginning and you realize it, once you hop off, you are done for. I try getting back on after refueling but it doesn't work that well. And yes, I complete the ride even with the bonk. It reminds me of misery I will eperience if I do that on the road. I typically stay fueled on the road for that reason.

I haven't bonked on my trainer since I usually can't stand to be on it long enough for that to happen. I have sort of drifted off close to sleep on it before though.

So....if you guys bonk while on the trainer, you must bonk all the time on the road.
I don't get it. Why wouldn't you prepare for an indoor workout like an outdoor one?
You know....make sure you're fueled up before the ride and have fluids and food with you.

I never have that much dedication. 2+hrs is just too boring.
I just usually try to hit the trainer for one hour each day or do the spin class at my local gym.
This week has been particularly good on the trainer with the Olympics on though. No better drive than watching Canada win a gold while sweating in front of the tube.
But I am glad to say that I have never bonked on my trainer.
I always have lots of energy bars / gels / Gatorade that sit on the table beside me that houses the TV remote among other things.
