Greenville, SC riding?

I'm thinking about heading down to Greenville, SC or that area for a few days to get some serious riding in since it's about 40F-50F warmer than where I am right now and also possibly look for some future rentals and jobs. I've been debating for several months to move down to the SC or NC area from NH and would like to finally take a ride down there and see the place for myself. I don't really have much holding me back up here with the exception of my team that I may miss for a little. Does anyone know of any good routes down in that area to ride?

Also, I didn't see many races or clubs down in that area which I'm surprised about, anyone know of any? the NH and MA area is usually filled with races.

Events

Here's an events page I'm working on for Charlotte Sports Cycling. Scroll to the center of the page for the 2006 USCF Southeast race calendar. Some of these races are still up in the air but you may find something to your liking. Welcome to the South!

Thanks, for some reason bikereg only has TX races for the southeast, last time I checked TX wasn't in the southeast :P Any other suggestions on good towns to live in for riding? I've only ever lived in New England.

If you're in Greenville, check with a rider named George. He rides a new Trek Madone and usually wears a full Discovery Channel team kit with ugly white rimmed Oakley sunglasses. You may catch him on Paris Mountian.

As far as I know, Greenville is the only city that officially has George Hincapie Day. Also home of Hincapie sports. He trains in the area. I know he does the bakery run from Tigerville,SC to Saluda, NC. Paris Mtn. is also a good ride. Lance was in Greenville twice last fall. Greenville will be hosting the USPRO championships this year. It's becoming quite a cycling savy town IMO.

I'm not a racer, but as I understand the Winter Bike League raced all winter (see foothillscyclists). The spring training season has now started and they run every week. I'm a member of the Spinners, and if you would like I can put you in touch with our race team coordinator. Their are also other teams in the area.

The freewheelers are a great group, always someone willing to ride with you when you're in the area.
