Clif bar. No melted fake chocolate mess.

thelung 03-03-06 07:05 PM

clif bars, nuts, dried fruit, pbj, granola, i love bananas too but they tend to get squished

worker4youth 03-03-06 07:07 PM

Too much sweets! I like ham and cheese sandwiches to balance all the clif, goo, etc.

Machka 03-03-06 07:32 PM

A variety of energy bars.

Also oatmeal cookies and those little packets of salted almonds. :)

mloywhite 03-03-06 08:14 PM

+1 for Clif bars, they are not as dense and gummy like Powerbars, and they actually taste good. Try the chocolate chip ones. Also, Gu gels are good, try the plain or vanilla ones.

I find most bars to be too sweet for my taste so I make my own granola bars. I like this cause I can adjust the sugar level to my taste and add the fruit and nuts I want.

big john 03-03-06 08:48 PM

My new favorite: Snickers Marathon energy bars. Also Fig Newtons.

reneuend 03-03-06 08:50 PM

What you see a lot of in this forum: fruits and nuts!

Double Whopper with extra big fries.

Jesus Christ 03-03-06 09:13 PM

oatmeal raisin power-bars, gu, banannas are nice but they tend to become disgusting bags of protoplasm in the heat...

peanutbutter and jelly/honey. bagels...

DieselDan 03-03-06 09:40 PM

Enervit bars have become a fav of mine as of late. Clif Bars are good. The Snicker's Marathon Bars are great, but messy because of the milk chocolate. I also carry some peanuts and/or beef jerky on longer rides.

carpbum 03-03-06 11:08 PM

Ive been doing Fig Newtons for over 35 years.

Iceman2 03-03-06 11:18 PM

Beer in a cooler, waiting for you at the finish...http://techhelpers.net/e4u/drink/trink40.gif

Just kidding :D

Cycleman1958 03-04-06 10:09 AM

I make a whole wheat bread, cut a slice then cut in half and lay on the peanut butter. Other than that some powerbar of some kind. Clif is best.

simplyred 03-04-06 10:12 AM

Bring 10 bucks and try the Burger King drive thru with your bike :D

Gels mostly, I love chocolate - but those bars and heat just don't mix...
I'm with machka - salted nuts are good too...
