Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tour de Georgia Info BLOG

We added a nice Tour de Georgia blog update to the Litespeed website for everyone planning to attend the Tour de Georgia this year. We'll keep adding all kinds of helpful info, but meanwhile we started with basic stage info, rides to do in the area and accommodations plus Litespeed factory tour info.

But soon we'll add coffee shops, neat breakfast places, restaurants and bars, bike shops, things to see, places to run etc.

Cheers,

Herbert

I'm looking forward to the race. I'll be at the Augusta start for sure. I also hope to make Brasstown Bald but we'll see; it's a long ways from my house. Early favorite?

I'm going with Landis.

Landis sounds like a great choice. He looked very strong today in Paris Nice and did "reasonably" well at the Tour of California. :-)

Does anyone know for sure yet who is going to be there. Here it is a little more than a month until the start of the race, and the web site doesn't have too many details yet. That information should be there by now IMO. I emailed them the other day to find out where the finish line is for the Chattanooga TT. It will be at Riverfront Park behind the aquarium.

Hopefully any day now the TdG group will release information regarding the rosters and even more details about the stages.
We'll also try to keep our site as informative and helpful as possible and add details on ongoing basis.
Regarding the stage individual time trial stage with the finish in Chattanooga, it will indeed finish on Riverfront Parkway right behind the Aquarium. But first the racers will have to go up the Nickajack Climb onto Lookout Mtn, then deal with the rollers on Lula Lake road, before descending down Ochs Highway from Lookout Mountain to the relative flat last couple miles to the finish. That climb though with about 1200 feet of elevation in about 4 miles will really hurt some folks, and descending Ochs on a TT bike is very tricky.

Cheers,
Herbert

Where will be the best viewing point downtown... at the actual finish? I'm staying at the Clarion and figure on parking early and picking out a spot within walking distance.

I actually can't believe that neither the route nor the rosters have been released yet. Hello organizers?

I think downtown the best viewing point might be truly the finish line as you can see the action most likely on a big screen monitor too. In my opinion though the big climb up the Lookout Mtn will be most amazing to see, they should all be suffering greatly.

Hill Climber, Thanks for the update and that is a great start. Who plans to attend at least a couple stages of this years Tour de Georgia? The Brasstown Bald stage should be epic this year.

If anyone is interested... within the hour after the end of the Chattanooga stage I'll be sitting at the bar at Durty Nelly's (just across the river) most likely with a Black & Tan in my hand. From supper time "until" I'll likely set up shop in the bar area of Buffalo Wild Wings downtown.

It's a shame that we are less than a month from the state of the race and the official site isn't update for crap. Thanks to the Litespeed guys for their Tour Blog for posting what teams are entered.
