I started cycling last year and got about three good months in before the weather turned ugly and I gave up till warmer weather hit. I got up to 20-30 mile rides 3-5 times a week during this time.
So I went out the last two days to start getting my cycling legs back under me and on both 15 mile rides noticed a stitch or cramp in my lower left stomach. I never really got this before, and usually get cramps under my rib cage when I get them. My hydration and nutrition has been really good the last few weeks so just no clue whats going on, and afriad this is going to hinder me getting back to my 30 mile goal. Any ideas? Thanks |
Ride through it. It will go away when you get in better shape.

Try taking in some more oxygen.
Deep long breaths, get that oxygen to your muscles. Worked for me and jogging, I got less cramps. |
A friend of mine who's finishing med school suggested I try room temp fluids on the bike - worked like a charm.

don't worry, that cramp happens alot -pre season-
eat 4 bananas a day if it happens again. |
