Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think I'm done upgrading for a while...(porn)

My 1.5 month old 2005 Cannondale R1000. OEM parts have been replaced or added with:

FSA Wing Pro 44cm handlebars
Vision Tech TT Mini clip-on aerobars (VERY comfortable for road geometry)
Deda carbon bar tape
Bontrager Bzzzkill bar plugs
Cateye Micro Wireless computer
fi'zi:k Arione saddle, titanium rails
FSA SL-K carbon triple crankset, FSA MegaExo bottom bracket
Zero Components carbon fiber bottle cages (22g each, $35 for both on eBay)
Look PP247 pedals
Wippermann ConneX link attached to Shimano Ultegra 10 speed chain

I think I'm done with the upgrades for a little while, but I'm open to suggestions!

Weird...you have all the same handlebar components as me! The TT bars , tape , handlebar , buzzkill pugs , computer and shifters. Great minds think alike i guess. .

You're correct, I believe the stock Cannondale stem is only around -6 degrees drop. Hm, I see potential for another 'upgrade' here...

Anyways, thanks for all the comments. BTW, I will put the chain on the big ring next time.

I agree with you. Unfortunately I didn't have a choice when I bought the bike (LBS closeout on eBay for $1350) so for the time being I'll keep the triple. I've never owned a triple crank before so I'll give it some time to see how I like it before making the decision to swap out the crankset (again!).

I'm pretty sure Cyclaholic was yanking your chain with the valve cap comment, but you really can throw away those washers on the valve stems. Do you TT with the bike, or just like the aero bars for more options?

Good advice, I was meaning to remove those washers.

I don't race competitively nor do I do time trials; I ride just to train and get my exercise. I've used aerobars since they first came out - remember the Scott Clip-Ons that Lemond used? I had a pair:

I find I just like the position aerobars give me, especially when I'm riding solo on the SoCal coastline on a windy day.

That really only applies to doubles, if you're running a triple, there's no OCP points anyway

Well, I've sold the following pulled parts on eBay:

FSA RD-250 ergo drop bars: $10 (the buyer got a GREAT deal, obviously)
TruVatiV Rouleur Carbon triple crank + GXP BB: currently at $96 with 2 hours to go
fi'zi:k Poggio saddle: put it on my 1994 2.8 R600 and sold it on Craigslist

To be honest, that's about it in terms of original parts that came off the bike, except for the large black Mavic dork disc (and I don't think I could PAY anyone to take that ).
