Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is that the total package? As in... 305 with HR and Cadence?

I bought it at www.pilothousemarine.com - they have the edge 305 w/HR, w/cad, and w/both. I called and spoke with a salesperson who confirmed that the bundle is for sale at 289.90 plus 14.00 shipping all over the u.s. They did have several in stock. I am still waiting to receive my confirmation email from my order earlier today.

go to this link:

i'll let you know when i get a order #

Just ordered my 305 w/CAD + HR from Chumbo.com ( https://www.chumbo.com/Info.aspx?id=307702&m=false). Price was $297.99 plus $8.26 for FedEx overnight.

Total of $306.25 (could have been cheaper but I upgraded shipping)

I found my expereince with pilothousemarine.com to be disappointing...

Early on in my shopping process, I emailed them to see if the had the edge in stock. After a few hours, I got a message back saying that they were in stock. I submitted an order with them for a garmin edge and after I placed the order, the instructions said that in order to pay, you have to submit a "support" form and request to pay with visa. Normal sites can take your credit card right away (I think they told me that this has been fixed) but I sent a message to same support email adress that I did before and asked them to contact me so I could give them my credit card number. This was February 2nd.

A few days go by and I hear nothing. Emailed them again and there was no response. I checked the web site for numbers to contact them and could not find anything. I finally ordered from another site and had received my product when the people from pilothousemarine.com called me ask me how we should proceed on the order I placed almost 3 weeks earlier. When I said that I couldn't get a hold of them to complete the order, they said that they were making a bunch of changes on the server and email was lost. I mentioned that I would have called if I could find a number and they said that there number was listed on the contact page. Well, when I looked, sure enough, it was there but I don't remember seeing it there when I looked before. Maybe I missed the number… I’m not really sure.

I would order from somewhere else, especially if the same price can be had from other vendors. That was my experience with the company, but I’m sure it varies. People seem to have good luck with Chumbo.com.

Thanks for the info. I just called to confirm that they received my order since i received no confirmation email. they did receive my order and it will be shipped within the next day or so. I hope i don't have to wait as long to hear from them. In the future, i am going to check out chumbo.com -seems to have good prices.
Thanks!

Ordered mine from https://www.chumbo.com/Info.aspx?id=307702&m=false yesterday about 1:30pm and got it this morning around 10am. Was $306.25 including overnight FedEx which according to the LBS I use, $55 below his cost. Awesome...

For those of you that have an REI rebate, REI has the Edge bundle with HR and CAD for $400. The current 20% off coupon can be applied to it bringing it down to $320. No shipping if you pick it up at the store but tax will be added.

The REI 20% coupon specifically says no GPS. Even if you could, $300 from Chumbo is still a better deal.

I know it says no GPS on the coupon but I guess they consider the Edge a bike computer rather than strictly a GPS. They are accepting the coupon for the Edge on their web site. For those of us with a nice rebate this month, it makes it very affordable.

rmac, I'd like to know where you're getting this info.

I called the on-line order phone and they told me that the Edge does not qualify for the discount. I also mocked up an on-line order, entered my 20% coupon code, and it did not apply it on the final shipped price. The only price reduction is if I choose to apply my dividend.

Well, I placed an order on the web and it applied the coupon and my dividend. I had it shipped to a store. I ordered it the end of February. I didn't pick it up until this week since it was backordered. Looks like they must have changed their policy. Sorry about that.

I was satisfied to simply get mine from REI. Although you are paying full list, you are getting credit towards your dividend which effectively reduces the price. This combined with the fact that I could use my AMEX (some e-tailers would not accept and I wanted the extra warranty and return protection), I can return locally to the store if I have a problem and have had good experience with REI made it worth the extra money. I may just be overly cautious but wasn't excited about turning over $300 plus to some of these online places with no confirmed reputation.

chumbo.com is getting good reviews here: https://www.resellerratings.com/seller1933.html
There are lots of other rating services out there; check you favorites.

I bought a couple of extra CAD sensors from Chumbo. Ordered on Tuesday and received them Thursday. Great service. Now if I can find some bike mounts. Two come with the Edge but I need a third. Everyone seems to be out of them.

Just got the new performance magazine and I see they now carry the Edge 305. And here it is online. The sucker is $379 and it doesn't say which model it is.but I assume it's the HR model without cadence.

I can vouch for chumbo, $306 and some change for this unit overnighted is awesome.

BTW I like the Edge 305 so far...
