Question about generic CO2 cartridges

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

While searching for a bargain on CO2 cartridges for (go figure) an Innovations Superflate CO2 pump, I'm seeing a lot of cartridges listed for use in paintball guns. These are 12g, unthreaded cartridges. The size is fine and the price, $20 per 50 pcs looks appealing, but as I understand it, some of these have a small amount of oil in the CO2 to lube the guns on each shot.

Anyone have any experience with these cartridges? Any issues with a small amount of oil in an inner tube?

Steve

I bought a box of those at WalMart probably 3 years ago and they are still fine. The threaded ones are 16g. versus the ones you are speaking of are 12g. Make sure the contraption you are using does not require threaded.

Thanks for the replies! Anyone know of a source that's cheaper than $.40 ea? Just checking on eBay and Froogle, that's the cheapest I see.

Take care,

Steve

it may not be worth it to buy in bulk, even a dollar a piece might be fine if you only use 1 or 2 a year... unless you really want to hold on to 50 cannisters

I buy them 25 in a box for about 12 bucks. I carry 4- 5 on me just in case. No difference.
