someone asked the other day what watts it took to go different speeds on a cycleops fluid 2, so I thought i'd see on mine. I started at 15mph and went up 1 mph every 30 seconds until 25 mph. My results were 15mph 145 watts. 16mph 175watts, 17mph 195, 18mph 228, 19mph 257 watts, 20mph 290watts, 21mph 325 watts, 22mph 368watts, 23mph 420 watts, 24mph 457 watts, 25 mph 508 watts.
These were just my results from a one time test. I would imagine it would be effected by tire , tenison on the roller, perhaps gearing.

Your numbers don't seem too far off from these--NOTE this shows KPH rather than MPH:
I don't know how accurate these are but I do find it interesting to compare the Cyclops Fluid2 watts with "Level Terrain" riding. According to the graph, 20mph on the Cyclops is roughly equivalent to about 25 mph on a level, windless road. That may or may not be entirely accurate, but the other day I tried to see if I could hold 20mph on the Cyclops for 30 minutes. I did it, but let's just say it was extremely hard for someone of my (limited) fitness level.

20 mph on the Fluid 2 for 30 minutes straight is good. The best I've done is averaged 18 mph for 2 hours, and 17.5 mph for 3 hours.

Man, 3 hours on the trainer!? How did you not kill yourself from the agony? Your numbers underscore the notion that every extra 1mph on the trainer is a LOT more work.
I did 1:45 at 18.7 mph yesterday and it was no fun. It was windy around here and I procrastinated my outdoor ride until it was too late. Big mistake. I'd rather ride 60 miles outside with no stops than 30 miles on the trainer. Keeping cool is a MAJOR problem for me.
Things to make the trainer more bearable:
- Listen to spirited music
- Vary cadence/effort
- Put a HUGE fan right in front of the bike.
- Hang a towel over the top tube to use for drying off
- Have your wife and kids act as domestiques bringing water and grub
- Don't wear a shirt
For whatever reason, attempting to watch a movie while riding doesn't work for me because at the level of exertion necessary to feel like I'm getting a good workout I can't quite seem to concentrate on the show and it ends up being an annoyance.

I have a TV/DVD in front of me, along with a fan with a remote. To my left is my treadmill, which makes for a handy towelholder, and on my right is a stool which holds the TV remote, fan remote, water bottles, and GU (depending on ride length). I don't wear a shirt, otherwise I'd sweat to death.
My goal someday is 6 hours of riding time on the trainer per UCMA rules (max 5 minute break each hour).....maybe next winter. Getting too nice out....although not this week....for wasting a day inside.
