Head Turners
One of my favorite things about cycling is seeing interesting things you might not notice if you were in a car. What memorable things have you witnessed while riding? Here are a couple of mine:
* Someone riding a full suspension mountain bike outfitted with massive cruiser-bike handlebars. And in the middle of the handlebars? Aerobars! * Two guys in matching gear at a stoplight, trackstanding on a tandem. Amazing. |
I saw a Bum get blown over by a gust of wind yesterday.
|
I saw a drug bust in a house on collier road in atlanta.
At least 20 cops, suspects already in cuffs sitting in the grass of their front lawn. Of course I don't know if it was drugs, but it looked straight out of an episode of COPS |
* An albino deer - on two separate rides!
* Two people having sex in the grass at the entrance to a State Park's parking lot. * Passing cars on a descent. * Watching cargo spill out of the back of a pick up truck as it went around a bend too quickly... directly in front of me. * Some spectacular sunsets. * Riding randomly around Antwerp, Belgium, and discovering a local kermesse race. |
I saw a bull and a cow doing "the big trick".
|
i'd have to say now that we're getting a taste of warmer weather, i'm seeing a lot more cleavage. ;)
|
I saw a long ear rabbit in the middle of Santa Clara.
I saw a car pull off the road to let me pass on a downhill (took him long enough thought . ) |
This always turns my head, but not for the right reasons.

I saw a guy yesterday with a 15 foot long 10 to 15 inch diamiter piece of driftwood caried on his bike. Probably for landskaping. Dont think he was going far.
|
at 6.30 one Saturday morning my buddy and I saw a U-Drive furniture removal truck try to drive under a low bridge...the result was hilarious for us, not so good for the bridge, quite bad for the truck and the furniture scattered on the road...and after hearing the screeching tirade from the chick in the passenger seat, bl00dy awful for the driver.
|
Two deer in the middle of the road on a 43mph descent!!!! Thankfully they moved.
|
Saw a couple taking some photos in a cornfield. She looked quite embarrassed :o, he had a grin. :D

Some incredible sunrises and sunsets over the Manhattan and George Washington Bridges dending on the time of the year.
|
Dodged a coyote yesterday early AM, totally fearless of me on the bike. Lots of hawks, red-tailed and Cooper's in the trees and on the poles out in the countryside. It was windy yesterday, one took wing just a few meters across the road's ditch, into the same wind I was bucking (10-14kts ) and was at eye level for the longest time while it got its airspeed up. Neat to watch.

I'm sure some are insane, but they should be institutionalized...all others fall into my description above. |

LMAO. As for me, I saw the Int'l Space Station last monday night. |
I may have noticed it in a car also but I passed a guy riding one of those old style "high wheel" bikes. He must have been 10 feet off the ground! While it was an old design it appeared to have been made of modern materials. As I passed him I called out "Nice rig!" and he laughed.
No...I did not give him "the look". |
