Vetta does both HR and Cadence on a single unit.

Sapper89 03-26-06 06:14 PM

The following is Vetta's brand new line. They look awesome and with only one sensor (the Torpedo). The VL110HR T2X with Torpedo combines 9 different Heart Rate and 26 cycling functions to maximize workout benefits and improve endurance.

Wireless suffers from interference. Do you really need cadence?

This is often repeated but not necessarily true! I've NEVER had interference with my Cateye CD-300DW.

I agree the wireless thing is more BS than not. I have yet to have any street light or other item cause interferences.

The people who had one brand interfere with another brands wireless seemed like a sabotage tactic.

Garmin Edge 305 can record and display both cadence and HR at the same time.

ast 03-27-06 04:05 PM

I've had zero interference problems with my polar 625X - on the HR or the cadence!

I can't confirm this so I haven't said it would in any post until someone who owns one says so since it is sold as a cadence or HR package. Have you definitely used a 305/205 that does both?

A smart person would confirm before posting bogus "information". You can buy a Garmin Edge with both the HR and cadence sensors in the box. And yes, you can use both at the same time, as I already said.

Garmin Edge 305 bundle..........comes with HRM and cadence! Best $ you can spend and with MotionBased it elevates your reports.

I've got a Polar CS200cad and it isn't very accurate and loses the signal more than I would like. It has an Autostart feature that is useless because everytime it loses the signal it wants to "pause". You'll be doing 21mph and all of a sudden it just pauses. I wrote polar and they said it was because it was losing the signal. So if you don't think your polar suffers from interference turn on the autostart feature and see how many times it "pauses" during a ride. I'll check in with my riding buddies at the end of a ride and my unit always seems to be off a few miles. I've also had a couple of rides where it has for some reason added a bunch of miles on to the distance, I'm talking 30 miles. The HR monitor works well but it doesn't record how you were doing during certain segments of a ride, it just gives an avg. at the end of the ride.

If your just looking for something you can look down at and get your HR, speed and if you don't care if the mileage isn't spot on it's not a bad unit but if your looking for extra detail check out the higher end polar models.

Well that dosn't sound good. I'm glad I dont have these problems with it picking up a signal. I do know if you dont have it on the auto start function and stop it will sometimes keep going and rack up miles till you pause it.

You can find the Garmin Edge 305 out there for $297 for the bundle (HR & Cadence) ...I did!

...and to the comments regarding the Edge and HR and/or Cadence ability let's lay that one to rest; yes the unit has both heart rate AND cadence functionality. The ability is there for any 305, however the included devices would depend on what package you purchase - you can always add the alternative element later if you don't buy the bundle.

I was getting ready to say..............hope someone didn't pay $400 + for the Edge bundle. I have found it for around mid $300 and that was not even looking hard for a great deal!

I on the other hand found that the POLAR RS-200 and CD-300DW were incompatible when running through the entire list of possible channels. (two separate CD-300DW units)

The Polar CS200 is a good buy, I think.

For what it's worth, it appears there is a newer computer by Polar, the cs300. I don't know if it's out yet or not, though.

the search function works! and there are obviously no recent cycle computer threads.

I just got the Sigma 1909 off ebay for pretty cheap. Works really well and has HR and cadence. I'm a new rider and having that info really helped me know when I was working or not working hard enough and if I was in the wrong gear. Unit worked well and am very happy with it.
