Tattoo vs New wheel set

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tattoo vs New wheel set

The GF is getting tattooed this week and I was debating on whether I would get some more work done too. I have also been waiting for Mike Garcia to get his new Speedcific hubs in from Taiwan. Well, I called Mike today and he is expecting the the hubs to come in very soon, so I ordered me a new wheel set. Here's what I ordered:

IRD Cadence Rims
28 Front w/DB14
28 Rear w/DB14/15
New model Speedcific hubs for both. I forget what the model is called but they are lighter than the Perception model, and from what I gathered, are only compatible with the Shimano 10 speed.

I had originally wanted to go with a 24 spoke front but for hill bombing reasons I thought the 28 might be a tad safer and reliable. Even though I only weigh 130 lbs, I figured its better safe than sorry with the lightness of the rims.

Unless the shipment falls off the boat or plane, they should get built in two weeks or so. For the price of the wheel set I would have only gotten a three hour tattoo session which is ok but I'm planning a big piece so I'll take the wheels this time. Can't wait!

I have no tats. I'd go with bike parts any day over ink though.

x43x, you post on nwhardcore.com right? I think I talked to you briefly when you bought your Felt.

Anyway, good call on the wheelset! The NW is too saturated in ink anyway (no pun intended)

I'm sure ink has weight to it, so you'll totally climb faster without the tattoos and the new wheels.

Haha...I ended up with the wheelset. I already have full sleeves, chest, stomach, and half a leg, so I figured I could do without my next piece for a while. Plus, its going to be on the ribs, so I'm not looking forward to that experience. It's kind of funny sometimes walking into a bike shop and the salespeople gravitate towards the BMX section, like that's where I'm headed because I have tattoos.

Yeah Dick, I post on the NWhardore.drama board. If you ever go riding in the middle of the week you should message me. I work weekends so my only riding then is if I commute on the bike.

Let's see, get a tattoo and risk HIV or get a new wheelset and go faster. Hmm...that's a real tough decision.

I thought so. The "43" part caught my eye when I was browsing the forum.

Anyway, I work during the weekdays, but commute from North Seattle to Woodinville about 2-3 times a week, depending on my schedule and the weather. Unfortunately the ride's not very scenic, but if you'd like to join, you are more than welcome!

My girlfriend Jenny and I do a loop around Bainbridge every Saturday (late morning/early afternoon) so if you ever get the time off, you should join us. It's a great ride with tons of rolling hills.

What is your point? Either get the ink or don't. Pretty simple.

This will work itself out nicely.

When you feel like spending money on something, go out for a nice long ride on your new wheel set.

Spend many long hours on the bike contemplating just exactly what you want next.

Before long, you'll have the money, and the perfect design.

Easy.

George Carlin has posted some "Rules for 2006," among them...
10. New Rule: Just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it doesn't make you spiritual.
It's right above the crack of your ass. And it translates to "beef with broccoli." The last time you did anything spiritual, you were praying to God you weren't pregnant. You're not spiritual. You're just high.

If someone can translate "General Chicken," I'm in! Otherwise, the wheelset.

Go with the one that will last a lifetime: the wheels

Ah, just read past the subject. Smart choice. There's way too many assinine tattoos out there.

Anyone serious about Tattoos goes to reputable shops that are cleaner than most Diners. If you go to a dirty shop that does not use new needles the threat is real enough.

Yup lots of people have opinions on Tattoos just like they do about Cyclists. We are all Wimps and Should be Hood Ornaments as far as the CA DJ is concerned.

I'd say buy a whole new custom cf bike. When you consider the cost for the tatoo, the lost earning potential from the jobs that you'll never be considered for with the tatoos, and the cost for it's ultimate removal of the Tatoos, $10,000 for a new bike would be a bargain.

You're right about one thing, both my hobbies cost a lot of money. But I got my job before I had any visable tattoos and asked them if they cared. They didn't, and now I'm covered. Even though I work for a huge corporation they made me a manager of the department responsible for getting three TV stations on the air. I don't have anything that can't be covered with pants and a long sleeve shirt though, just in case I need to get something different, or move into the office setting.

And why has no one talked about the Mike Garcia built wheelset I ordered!? Anyone have the IRD Cadence Rims?

tattoos are a hobby?

how? if you're an amateur tattooist, then i'll buy it, but if getting tatttoos are considered a hobby, then dude, check the definition.

for the record i have a tattoo. it's a homemade one. i gave it to myself when i was 13.

SO ... where the pics of the wheels???
