Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tru Vativ Rouleur Carbon Crank

Their was a similar thread on here re purchasing an '05 vs '06 Cannondale R1000.

I too have an opportunity to get a better "dollar savings" on a leftover '05, PLUS the obvious advantage of the Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels & FSA SL-K Carbon seat post on the '05, & also I like the Patriot Blue vs this years red or silver.

But what about the 05' Crank.....Tru Vativ Rouleur Carbon 39/53 vs the '06 Shimano Ultegra Crankset?
Is it worth it to convince the dealer to swap for the Ultegra set-up as part of the deal, or better leaving well enough alone....?

I started using the Truvativ after changing from an 03 Ultregra. I REALLY noticed a difference in stiffness just because I was so used to the conventional BB and the fairly flimsy Ultegra.
Shimano has really upped the ante with the new Ultegra crankset and I've heard that it's uber stiff. Unless you want that carbon look, don't worry about hitting up the Rouleur.

I've heard bad things about the TruVativ cranks. Like this: https://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycling/183003-afraid-shift-my-10-speed-help.html

I would probably go with the Ultegra cranks.
