Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

One last piece of bling for the Raven

The last upgrade arrived today for the Raven, my Pedal Force QS2 project bike.

I moved the SLR saddle over from my Litespeed because it has a yellow section which matches the spokes and tires.

I also removed the Zero G brakes because, while they were light, they didn't actually stop the bike very well. So added some weight by putting back on the Dura Ace brakes which work really well. So I guess it's finished unless I decide to upgrade it to Campy one day. 16 lbs. road ready as you see it below:

What is up with the nipples on the spokes by the hub on the front wheel?

No, I deserve a whipping for using a Shimano group, period. I can deal with Shimano stuff on my tandem or my mountain bike but on a road bike? When will I ever learn?

The spokes are carbon fiber. The little plastic thingies keep the spokes from rubbing together and wearing through where they cross.

Beautiful bike!

That said, I've decided to make a new rule:

ALL bike photographs MUST be taken and posted by either ViperZ or 55/Rad.

They can start with yours, then mine can be next...

And GuitarWizard. I like Shimano, as long as it's Ultegra or Dura Ace.

Wow - the build keeps getting more and more solid. Really like the cranks and saddle addition. I have to admit I like Campy too, but its not worth it to me for the money I'd have to lay out to get it.

I was thinking the other day when I was lookng at a Scott CR1 Team frame that my Topolino's would look really good on it.
