Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I usually ride a mtn bike, have for about a year, and was looking to get a road bike also. I am a female about 5'4 120, any suggestions?
Thanks!

Since you are new to road cycling, it will be hard to reccommend something with the limited info yo have provided. I would go to some Local Bike Shops (LBS) to see what type of bike appeals to your eye.

Amazing that you want to ride a road bike at 120 years old, just kidding

as whereswaldo said...Get to your local bike shop. Try to go to a place that you trust and has a good selection so you can see some of the variety of bikes out there. Then just start test riding. There are many many bikes I could reccomend but you should try them for your self.

i think there is a women's forum? if you pm the mods - try koffee first? - they will tell you how to get rights to view that forum and post there...

the reason i mention that is that in that forum and at your lbs(s) it might be a good idea to see what other women your age/size ride and like...

also, do a forum search on 'women road bike recommendations' and see what turns up? google that too and you might hit some good stuff...

prediction: opinions will vary greatly, and there will be a lot of discussion about whether a women specific design (wsd) is advisable/necessary, etc...

fwiw, a girl i know about your size recently got a giant ocr1 and likes a lot.... she's new to road biking, but has been riding a mountain bike for years..

good luck!

Depends on your budget, and what you want to do on a road bike. As far as size, you would really need to have a shop check your dimensions (see if they offer a fitting service) and then find something suitable.
