Descente shorts

Unlike many of the posters I have read, I have been unsatisfied with the Assos FI-13 S2 bibs I have. While I love the feel of the lycra, I don't like the chamois. It has not been that comfortable, and really seems to bunch up in the crotch. I also have seams unraveling at the front. This is the second pair after the first was replace for premature pilling. The shorts have less than 500 miles on them. I think they should hold up better than that. I have been thinking about the Descente Aero X or more recently the Voler Elite. Thought about the DeMarchi, but the chamois is the same as the Assos. Any comments on the Descente or Voler? Thanks.

I, too, had a problem with some Assos gear this season, a pair of tights and shoe covers in my case. Ordinarily, Assos makes fantastic kit in my opinion, and generally fit me well (stocky guy, longish limbs, short trunk). To your point, have you tried contacting your LBS (or wherever you purchased your item) about a warranty exchange? In my case, I had a tear along a seam near my knee and the fabric under the shoe cover tore a bit; my LBS swapped out both items, same day.

Take care,
T

My Descente fit well. Extremely comfortable.THink the fit is perfect. Lost weight? But, the problem of thread unravelling. Seems happens with lots of different shorts. I almost think that normal unless the seams appear to be totally unravelling. we put bike shorts under a lot of stress.
They should stay in perfect condition, what for a year. I wear my most popular shorts on average maybe, three times a week. That a lot of hours in the saddle in a year. My Descentes look like new. Had them two years.

Descente Aero Xs are my favorite shorts over LG, PI, Performance. Most expensive, though.

Try Etxe Ondo bibs. They're awesome.

I have a pair of the classic pro,the one below the aero x and love them over my PI's. I found some Aero X for 97 bucks and ordered them.

I have always liked Descente gear.

That said I love my Pearl Izumi 2006 3D Micro Senor's.

I was thinking of getting the Assos F1's as additional shorts, but may try something else just to mix it up.

For those wearing the Descente, how do the sizes run? I wear a medium in my Pearls and large in the Assos. I am 5' 9" and 160 lbs.

I am all about my Aero-X. Over 2k miles on mine and still going strong. Just ordered another pair because of wieght loss.

Sizes are based on waist: 27"-29" = XS, 29"-31" = S, 31"-33" = M, 34"-36" = L

I tried the Descente Aero X and the chamois was huuuuuuuuuge on my skinny frame. Unfortunately, I'm 6'1' so if I went a size down I'd be facing some length issues. The Castelli YPRO shorts fit pretty well, but I'm interested in finding some other bike shorts (preferably one that doesn't have a very loud design of a scorpion silkscreened onto the ass), does anyone have any suggestions for tall and very skinny lads?

Don't many of us have shorts for the beginning of ride season. European sizes, for me XL. And Large for the end of riding season. Good to have two different weight ranges on hand for the years riding.Weather is nice enough here. Riding so frequently I hope maybe by this September I might be wearing a medium? probably not. Food is great too.and the club drinks Pastis after every ride. The redundant pair of shorts that I have for both summer and spring weight are Descentes. I like their comfort that well.

You know, I am pretty skinny, too, at 5'10" and 147#. The Descentes fit me best, though I also have a pair of Pearls, a Nalini, and a Canyon short. Overall, not much difference in the chamois size that I have noticed. The '06 Descente line is introducing a new chamios (Strata?). It is probably just marketing hype, but maybe the chamois is a different size. The pair I just orgered is a small (from M), so I should have an idea of how they scale down.
