Side gusts and steering
Well, I've been thinking about getting a deep-wall aero wheelset with bladed spokes. Some of my fellow riders have warned me about steering problems in gusty winds. But is this really true? Sure, side gusts cause steering problems, but I suspect it's because of change in the vertical orientation of the rider as he adjusts to changes in wind speed. Just not seeing how a side wind could affect the front wheel in such a way as to turn it one way or the other.

You'll definitely notice a difference on windy days. The harder the wind is blowing the worse it will be.

Depends on the strength of the wind too. It was gusting to about 40mph today here plus the added funnel effect of big tall buildings, I dont care what you were riding, it was challenging at times. Plenty of guys here have velocity deep V's, including me, doesnt seem to make that much of a difference. Im sure something like zipps would make a difference though. I doubt it would make enough of a difference to keep them from being used, disks would be damn dangerous though. Fact still remains, till your really moving fast, aero rims dont give you much added speed, most get little or nothing out of them. They start to really help above 25-27mph really.
