Satanic barrel adjuster
Ok, so today I am out riding and I notice that my rear derailleur is starting to grind a bit, so I reach down and tweak the barrel screw. I have done this many times in the first 200 or so miles I have put on the bike, and I just chalked it up to cable stretch. However, today I had to do it three or so times, so I reached down and counted the threads sticking out of the bottom of the braze on. The next time I needed to adjust it, I counted the threads again and found that the number had increased. I figured out that the culprit is that the stupid thing is screwing itself back in! What gives? There is a little spring that pushes it the opposite direction, but I guess that is not enough to counter the cable tension and the vibration pushing it back in.
Should I throw some threadlocker in there? I was a bit worried about it sticking and eliminating the ability to adjust on the fly, but other than getting it perfectly dialed in with the screw fully seated in the braze-on, I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? Thanks!

you don't have the kind that lock every 1/4 turn or so? i thought was standard stuff.
oh... but i see you ride a serotta. maybe that costs extra on those super-fangled custom jobs

Screw the downtube barrel adjuster all the way in and use the barrel adjuster on the rear derailleur to adjust your cable length. I think it's overkill to have two barrel adjusters for one derailleur but I guess it would look funny to only have one for the front derailleur and not for the rear. You can also get an inline cable adjuster if you really wanted all that adjustability. B&L carries some that I put on a friends bike.
