Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Or Chuck's Velocity Nuvian?

Nuvian wheelset competes with the most expensive wheels on the market at a fraction of the price and it features the race proven Aerohead rim. It comes with double-butted spokes and our sealed cartridge bearing hubs with aluminum axles and cassette body.

Modern 9 and 10 speed rear wheels have almost no bracing angle on the drive side, and this severely reduces lateral stiffness and requires the drive side spokes to be at 80% to 100% higher tension than non drive side spokes. The off center design greatly reduces this tension imbalance and adds some much needed bracing angle to the spokes. The result is a wheel that is stronger, more stable and requires much less maintenance than wheels built with traditional rims. 32 spoke rear wheel, 24 spoke front.

Prices:

210 for Ritchey vs 235 for Velocity

Other options include Mavic Aksium and Mavic CXP21, but I've heard/seen NOTHING for these.

Hmm. Seems the choice gets tougher. Nashbar now stocks four different levels of front wheels for the Ritchey Comp series, with few if any detectable differences.
