I tried a search and came up with a billion threads on shorts. I'm going to order a couple of pair and would like your opinions on the best shorts for 50 bucks/pair or so.

- depends on kinds of shorts?
- or even cheaper, go with padded briefs, such as Nashbar's liner short (only available for women at time of this posting)...
- the Sock Company has some Pearl Izumi shorts on sale right ($35 IIRC) now w/free shipping
- you can look at some Canari offerings at your local Sports Authority (one near me had some, but i'd buy online cheaper, personally)
- i'm sure you'll find a brand you like...

Look for Pearl Izumi Attack shorts at your local bike shop. I think they're more comfortable than the cheapest Voler shorts, which cost about the same. Trying on the shorts at your bike shop will ensure a comfortable fit.

Perfomance/Nashbar liquicells are pretty comfy. The liquigel's however are awful, too thick. They are 30-40 range

I'm usually not a big fan of team kit apparel (a bit flashy for my style), but these are relatively neutral. And w/ the Nalini insert, they should be quite a good, comfortable find @ $50:

Also, not sure if you're dead set on shorts, but these are bibshorts --- which are usually much more comfortable than shorts.

Performance or Nashbar "Century" shorts can sometimes be purchased for $25 or less on sale - I love them and use them on all my long rides.

my fav short is from colorado cyclist... https://www.coloradocyclist.com/commo...389&TextMode=0
I don't like the gel padded shorts...
I think to get a good fit, you need to get an 8 panel short.

I've been wearing the same two pairs of PI's for a couple of years and want to try out some others. The PI's are OK but I'm always looking for something a little more comfortable.
Looks like I'm going to go ahead and order a variety of brands and I'll buy a couple of bibs in there too.
Thanks for all the responses everyone!

Performance elite shorts. These shorts are good for under 50 bucks. Didn't hold up as well as PI attack shorts which hold up a little better but then again cost a little more. My favorite saying however is, "You get what you pay for".

The lowest Nalini bibs are around 50 bucks, and last for a long time...... the only problem is the chamois gets real sweaty fast!, great for colder weather though
