Hey I made the Sports Page! (in an article about George Meyer

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey I made the Sports Page! (in an article about George Meyer

Here's: https://greenvillenews.com/apps/pbcs....10/1038/SPORTS an interesting article on a local cyclist who has had great success in the Assault on Mt. Mitchell Ride. What is amazing is he only rides 1/2 the year. Oh and the rider behind Mr. Meyer in the yellow jersey
is me!!
This picture is from a training ride put on by the Foothills Cycling Club on 4-15

That was a nice article, I only wish our newspaper would dare to print an article such as that. It's ball sports and Nascar all the way. I'm sure this year with Lance gone the Tour De France will hardly be mentioned.

Actually the ride started in Spartanburg, but the Greenville News did the article Greenville about 30 miles away. The Spartanburg paper had 3 writers last year "trying to train" for Mt. Mitchell and took turns writing about their experiences. Where I work, it is definitely not popular to bicycle, but making the sports page was a big hit!
