Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

OCP paradise

I found this guy on ebay who had a link to his site. Now I know it's kind of cheating because none of this is OEM, but he makes bar end plugs, saddle bags, etc. to match famous bike manufacturers. Also makes custom stuff too. It's a bit pricey, but I am really tempted to get a Celeste saddle bag and plugs with the Bianchi headbadge logo to make my Veloce look even sharper. Anyway, just thought I would share this with you guys while I pine over spending money on things I don't need.

Probably not and I hate it when the USCG is left out of military stuff(armed services bar ends)...there are five branches of the military guys. Its not that hard.

What is USCG?

I've heard vague referance to it in the past, when I was in the U.S. NAVY.

(P.S. Thanks for your service, shipmate.)

No doubt. When not in time of war,the Coast Guard is not military, it is overseen by the Department of Transportation. When specifically used in wartime, it falls under the US Navy. So then it becomes just like the US Marines.

So there are really THREE branches of the military

Thanks. I just wish I had done this myself. It looks like the guy is just printing stickers/patches on a fancy computer printer and applying them to the bar ends/saddle bags, then charging top dollar for it.

I thought the USCG was always military?

Youre right, he is...

I got some Maple Leafs one's and while they were cool, they were not as weather proof as I would have liked, got wet, and bled a bit

wrong wrong, there are three military DEPARTMENTS, these are largely budgetary organizations and have 0 zero warfighting implications. The Marine Corps does fall under the DON, Department of the Navy, but as we have our own JCS, The Commandant, and OBTW the current CJCS is a Marine, and our own wing in the Pentagon we do not “fall under the Navy” which is a branch. There are 3 departments, 4 branches, and I am pretty sure the Coasties now fall under Homeland Defense don’t they? OBTW if the Navy wasn’t associated with the Marine Corps these days, what exactly would their mission be?

Well, that's making me think twice. Glad I didn't order them last night when I was tired and not thinking well. I wonder if I could put some clear film over it, then.

Hmmm...

Launching tomahawks,
Nuclear deterrent,
building/repairing runways,
airstrike capability w/ mobile runways,

Oh, and occasionally we transport some jarheads.

Just a little friendly banter. Didn't you know the only real Corps is the Reactor Core?

launching tomahawks, Air Force can do it from airplanes and be home for dinner
Nuclear deterent- because the threat of global nuclear war is so everpresent these days..and the AF again does it cheaper from home
buliding/repairing runways, well the Seabees have always been more Marine than squid anyway
Airstrike Capability with mobile runways - yeah those CV/N's are great for supporting the MARINES and dog faces, on the ground.. see my original point.
Transport some jarheads, well my last two trips to Iraq have been onboard and America Airlines 747
I kid because I love.

I dunno, is this guy preventing any of these companies from making money? Hell, he's benignly advertising for them.

It's actually trademark infringement. The inferior product dilutes the original owner's trademark and trades on the good name the original company spent lots of time and money developing.

He's appropriating the trade name, mark and dress of certain manufacturers.

It's clearly illegal. Do you want to support this schmuck?

Nope, I didn't order anything. It was tempting, but the stuff is starting to sound like crap, and I don't see anything that suggest he has a right to use those logos. At this point, I don't think I'll even bother buying the generic ones (as a musician, the musical notes ones looked cool) because it supports his overall motive. Thanks guys, I needed a reason not to spend more $$$

The Coast Guard is under DHS. And yes it is still a branch of the military. We get military ID's, benifits, insurance just like everyone else. Try telling the coasties in Iraq (yes there are coasties in Iraq) that they aren't in the military.

We always referred to the USCG as the Molly Pitchers' of the Navy. They bring us hot coffee when we need it. They get it off all those Columbian boats that sneak through the Gulf of Mexico. I'm not sure what those boys put in it, but it sure wakes me up. They make great hot coffee.
