$700 Canadian for Mavic Ksyrium ES set?
I am on vacation in another city this week, and while wandering through a local bike store I see a the rear wheel of the ES set, and a $700 tag on it, I ask the young guy behind the desk how much the wheel set is and he proceeds to tell me that 700 is the prie for the set!! I explain to him that they retail for $1100 US, and he just talks right over me and says that this is the best bike store in _____ (name of city) and we have the best prices. I then show him other products that are priced at full retail, like a shimano xt crankset for 380 Can, and a 717 rim laced to xt hubs, for $409 he just ignores me and thinks he is right!
Should I go back and buy the wheelset and sell it on ebay, and hope that this guy gets in some big trouble for not thinking before he speaks, or what do you guys think??

Walk...no run...no ride back to that store, and buy that set! Buy me a pair too. They are the 06 model, correct?

why in the world would you argue with a guy over a LOW-balled price? Mistake or not... you sound like the guys on SlickDeals.net (check it out) who call companies when price mistakes come up and "ask them if it's for real" instead of just buying one and hoping it comes through... then ruin it for everyone! Man that's annoying...
but seriously... the moment he said it's for the set, I'd say "ring'em up." and not act to surprised so as to give away any suspicions you may have. But hey, that's just me. These things are so ridiculously priced for what you're getting anyways.

Reminds me of how I got my Sidi Genius 4s a couple of years ago. Cambria had them on their sale page for $79.99. Called (to make sure they had my size) and ordered them on the spot. They came in three days, perfect and factory fresh in the original box, no sign of cleats ever having been mounted, etc. I think that they were supposed to be on sale for $179.99, which would have been in the ballpark with other mail order places at the time (the Genius 5 was on the horizon, but not yet released). But the guy said they were $79.99 on his end too, and I got 'em.

You did the honorable thing. You asked, he verified the price & had a chance to make the correction if he made an error. If you don't but them, someone else will. PM me with the bike shop's name & phone number if you elect to pass on the purchase. Bob

I don't buy parts too often but I'd still like to get genuine stuff when I do.
If you don't want to post the name here, could you send me a PM? Thanks

You just have to get over the color of those spokes! I saw a set of silver SLs the other day that had a few spokes replaced with black ones. I started lusting immediately.

Are you guys talking about the shop near Spadina? I forgot the name, but who cares if you post the name?

I'm thinking they must have been mounted and test ridden on a bike then the buyer returned them the next day or something, and the shop just can't sell them as new anymore. It's either a really good deal, or a really bad deal. I highly doubt a top of the line show room wheel would have a pricing error. Then again, we all know that bike shop's don't even pay 1/2 the retail price when they order things, they could just be a good deal, sometimes shops just cheapen the market. Probikekit.com does have them for 866$CDN.
If, upon close examination, they appear real and in good condition(true, no dings from being droppped, no sign's of wear or usuage), i'd get them, great wheel to slap on race day, or hill day for an extra zest fully clean feeling between your legs.

The shop is in Edmonton, Alberta. And they are brand new, I don't intend on keeping them (I'm a student, and can't afford $700 wheels, even if they are a good deal), will it be hard to sell them for a few hundred more to make it worth my while?

sorry, the shop is United Cycle, the thing is, it is a big shop with lots of employees, and the young guy I talked to Yesterday might not work everyday, so someone else might give you a different price. Hope one of you get a good deal, if this is the set you are looking for. If anyone lives in Canada I could possibly pick these up and send them for a small profit, as I would be able to go back to the same guy and get them off him at the low price. let me know, I am in town until sunday morning,
