Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SRAM new product line? What about 9sp stuff?

I was looking at SRAM's website and maybe it's just me but I'm only seeing the new "Force" line listed. What about all their other stuff for 9spd? I'm going to need a new chain soon and I've been using he PC89R but it's nowhere to be seen on their site. I was thinking about trying out an SRAM cassette like the PG970 but it isn't listed on their site either. Are they going to still make the 9spd stuff? Is this now inferior technology? It's a bit disconserting the 9sp stuff is completely absent from their website.

send them an email.... see if they are still going to make 9 spd stuff.

If not, then go to a LBS, and stock up

I just bought a PG970 off Ebay. SRAM's website has it listed under the MTB components. I got an 11/23...not sure which MTB would actually have that installed, so maybe they're just directing newbies to their Force line by only listing that in their Road components.

I really don't think I'd ever want to put this Cassette on a mountain bike. It's too pretty...

For chains, I wouldn't worry too much about MTB specific. I got the PC-99 Hollow Pin chain and it works great.

ps. I'm sure 'Force' branded chains and cassettes that are exact replicae of the Pg970 and PC-99 will be out shortly...with the added "road tax".

Couldn't even find an email, just snail mail addresses and a long distance phone number.

Interesting. I thought for sure the pg970 was considered a road cassette befoe their new line came out. Oh well, screw 'em, guess i'll just buy a cheap chain. I've got 2 or 3 brand new 9spd Ultegra cassettes I need to wear out before considering going 10spd.
