Anyone have extra bikes kicking around in San Diego area?

I'm sure I know the response I'll get, but I figured it is worth a shot.

I moved here from Boston last summer, and a friend of mine from home is going to be visiting for 2 weeks. He is very interested in road biking and wants to ride with my roommate and I while here, but obviously purchasing a bike is not feasible since he lives 3500 miles away and is actually headed to china for a few months after leaving SD.

Anyway, I thought I might as well ask if anyone has any spare or unused road bikes available for loan from May16th - June 1st. I'd be willing to do maintanence, or lend my services out in other ways. Obviously I'd be willing to setup some sort of a deposit or agreement for assurance. Chances are I will return the bike in better condition than received.

I'm not looking for anything special, as long as it rides. He needs something in the 54-56cm range, I don't even need pedals or a helmet. We'll probably ride 200 miles at most in those weeks since we'll be doing some sight seeing and relaxing, etc.

Please don't suggest buying and returning a bike as that is neither of our styles.

I have been scowering craigslist and the like but haven't seen any deals worth picking up.

Pic attached to show that I have a deposit for you :p

So with all the signatures of people with like 50 bikes, no one has an extra 80's or 90's something or other? Perhaps I'm the only one that's openly trusting of strangers :(

If I'm shooting in the dark, someone just let me know and I'll shut up. I guess I didn't think it'd be much of a big deal.

And yes, I am in the process of eating my finger in that first picture.

Well, with a deposit like that, I've got several different bikes your friend can choose from for keeps. And I'll even waive my usual $50 delivery charge....

douchebagonwhlz 05-09-06 07:35 PM

how much $ is that and what is your address?

I know you're joking, but the point isn't that I want an expensive bike, just that I'm not a broke scumbag that's going to steal your bike and disappear.

I can offer any automotive service people might need if that entices anyone! Oil changes, brake jobs, etc.

Since I'm in a picture posting mood I'll throw up one of my disproportionately sized toolbox in the background while I'm cleaning!

I know it looks like there are extra bikes, but the yellow fuji is FUBAR, the other hanger is mine, the Scoot is my roommates, and the frame is well, a frame.

douchebagonwhlz 05-09-06 08:50 PM

combine the fuji components and the black frame, send me a 100$ consulting fee.

I can convert your garage door to a sectional for a very good price.

You probably got enough tools in that toolbox to grab a thriftstore or yard sale special and rehab it in a 6 packs time to something enjoyable.

Enough tools... Yes!

Enough time... I wish.

If you have so much cash, why do you live with a rommate? :p

oilman_15106 05-09-06 10:37 PM

I sold a motorcycle and the buyer paid cash. If I had extra cash like that I wouldn't be riding a bike older than me.

I have a bike in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania that I won't need for a few months. It is a 1988 Centurion Master Ironman that is in pretty decent shape.

All you have to do is pay shipping both ways, and you can use it.

Oh boy, I'm helping!!!!!

:D
