New Wheels

So I know that there have been a flock of new wheels post but I thought 'Hey why not one more?' So the shop told me that my current wheels have just about crapped out (stock Alexrims) and that eBaying would be the best for me. So I found these:

Only problem is that they seem to be really small. 700c is fine but by 18mm? Am I missing something or is the standard 23 for a roadbike and at smallest about 21 for a track bike? Any other advice on a decent wheelset from eBay would be appreciated.

No worries, rims are going to be narrower than the tires that will be fitted. My Easton wheels are 19mm, and 23mm tires fit fine. Nature of the beast, as it were.

Size

I believe the 18mm is not the width, but the depth. For example, aero wheels might typically be around 30mm, non aero 18mm-21mm. For 90% of non racers, aero has no benefits.

Thanks a Bundle for the quick fit reply.
Anyone have any opinions on the wheels themselves? I counldn't find anything on them at the Vuelta website which makes me hesitant. Also on a somewhat relevant sidenote I will be racing on these although only as a junior if that factors into your opinion at all.

Thanks again

I have not heard about these wheels, but the rims look like they are semi aero and more than 18 cm deep. I did not see a weight on the wheels. they look like pretty fast wheels for the flat lands, but I'm not sure how good the bearings are and how light the wheels are. with low spoke count, the rim need to be pretty strong and at that price, I just can't image how good the bearings can be. take a wheel with dura ace or record...spin it and watch it spin, and spin, and spin. a good hub with smooth bearings will make a fast bike feel fast and rough bearings will a good bike feel slow.

If you are looking for light weight and aero try Xero-xr1 wheels.

you can find them on ebay cheaper though.

We had those wheels come into the shop on a new bike. They are pretty good. The Xero Wheels are also pretty good. I would just get whatever you can find cheaper

Wheels are fast? Thought it was the rider that was fast or slow if that is the case.
