Klein Quantum Vs. Quantum Pro
Does anyone know the differences in frame/fork between Klein Quantum, Quantum Pro and Quantum race bikes?
|
|
Klein does not list those differences because these are older models. They make carbon bikes now. I posted here because I was unable to find the information elsewhere....

I too would like to know, I own a Quantum race, its an amazing bike. However, i dont know the differences between my frame and the pro / standard frames.

2000 catalogue says all 3 have full gradient aluminum frame. .Quantum(shimano 105) and guantum race(ultegra) have icon air rail fork.Quantum pro( DA) has Aeros carbon fork and integrated HS.Specs were different in prior years, as all frames did not use full gradient tubeset.

I am looking at a 99 plain quantum frame. Does that mean the frame is less than the Quantum race or pro? Is the Icon fork carbon or metal?
|
It is my understanding that in '99 and '00 the alum frames on the Q, QR and QPro are the exact same frame. The only difference is the components. I have a 2000 QR and I believe it is the same frame as the QPro.

Same frames---just different groupo's ---wheel sets----etc.......

Ok I'm adding to this a few years later but just to mix things up some more. How about the Quantum II with full Chorus? Would that have been a factory bike or someone's upgrade in components? Is there a Difference with the Quantum II frames?

Here's what I've gathered:
Early Quantum and Quantum Z up to 1996 - Original frame with external cabling and old school style headtube for 1" threaded headset Early Quantum II up to 1996, Later Quantum Race starting with 1997, and late Quantum starting with 1999 - Internal cable routing with and old school style headtube for 1" threaded headset (though Quantum Race starting with 1999 and Quantum starting with 2000 use a threadless steerer and stem). Quantum Pro starting with 1994 - Internal cable routing and new style headtube for integrated headset, basically a modern alu frame. For reference you can check out the Klein catalogs year by year at Trek, Fisher, Klein, Lemond bike catalogs, bicycle brochures |
