Lock Bracket Won't Fit My Frame... :(
 

Hey all, I just got a new bike, a Trek FX 7.3.

Very nice bike, but when I got a new lock to go with it, I was sad to discover that the bracket doesn't actually fit onto the bike's frame.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a lock that comes with a larger bracket that can accomodate a frame like the one my bike has?

The bracket that came with my lock just ain't gonna cut it.

For that matter, can anyone recommend the best type of bike lock? I know it's a matter of opinion of course, I was just curious to hear people's thoughts.

As for the bracket, I guess if I can't find a larger one, I'll have to carry my lock in my bag, etc.

I'd really rather not do that though, it's kinda heavy and I don't think it'd be much fun to lug around.

Bike lock goes in your cool messenger bag. Never on your frame.

^^ or put the lock in your back pocket like most of us do

Well there's no way the lock is gonna fit in my back pocket, unless I get much bigger back pockets.

As for my cool messenger bag, I guess that's an option.

Though to be honest I really don't want to carry my lock.

That sucker's heavy.

Is carrying the lock on the frame really a bad idea?

I did that for years and it seemed okay. But then again- I never once thought to ask anyone about it.

I'm not fond of frame carry...I'd rather put water bottles in that space.

On my roadie: I use my messenger bag or camelbak.

On my mountain bike: bungie-corded to the side of the rack....just pull up and it slides right out...but it never falls out even under the worst abuse.

There is a way to fit anything you want on a bike..you just have to be creative.
