Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

......not sure, so its not a full gruppo i guess, seller said he thought they might be Tektro, he got them to match the black anodizing of the crank and seatpost, i'll see how they are, but might stick with my 105s if they dont work as well (they look cooler though!)

and hopefully this will all go on my neighbors '99 Klein Quantum Race (sooo nice) after he sells it to me for cheap!

ill definitely keep everyone posted.

sorry, I don't normally do this kind of thing, but its not "costed", its just "cost". I apologize - haven't had my first cup of coffee just yet so I'm grumpy.

Tektro's are just fine. The pads sometimes aren't the best but you can replace those in 2 seconds.

You know I haven't had a bike with Tektros but I went to their web site to find out if the CF brakes on the Cannondale SystemSIX were in fact Tektros, which they are. I had to laugh because everyone says to replace the pads with Koolstop pads and the web site claims that the top two models anyway come stock with Koolstops. https://www.tektro.com/02products/08r750.php

I've had tektros on several bikes. The ones that came stock on my Moto Le Champ had awful pads. They were slick initially, got the most horrible brake dust on everything, and wore out really fast. Plus they didn't do a wonderful job of stopping. I replaced them with Dura Ace pads and all was peachy keen. Perhaps Tektro has received enough complaints that they have changed the pads.

I think you did good, allez, especially with all that extra stuff thrown in. Probikekit's a good outfit, but half the time it seems like they're out of stock on one or more components in a group. Just my experience as a window shopper.

Cheers.

Mouse is right about the inconsistencies of PBK's stock. But, if you have the lowest prices, you are going to run out of stuff. I was not trying to say that Allez got a raw deal. I think it was a great deal with all the extras thrown in. I was just stating a fact in case someone else needed some information...

Good point, RoadToad. And they seem to re-stock pretty quickly. The stuff I've ordered from Probikekit has been priced right and got to me right away.
