Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Louis Garneau sizing & chamois

I've read good feedback on LG bibs/shorts and am planning to buy a pair of bibs online. Any feedback on LG's sizing would be appreciated... I wear medium PI shorts and medium Adidas bibs. Do LG's sizes compare or do they run smaller or larger?

The specific ones that I'm looking at the the LG Lycra Power Bibs on sale at Performance. Anyone else have these? How does the Ergozone chamois compare to PI's 3D Elite chamois (in the Ultra sensors shorts)?

thanks,
- tom

Dude, they're Lycra, they'll adjust. If a medium in two other brands fit you, buy a medium. You're overthinking this.

I'm 6' and 165 lbs. I wear a size large (G/L) in the Louis Garneau short and also their pro-fit jersey. The ergozone chamois is perforated (to breathe) and of denser material than other shorts I have, and of varying thickness for the different 'zones.' Thickest on the sitbones, thinner in the crotch. I like it a lot for long rides. The lycra provides more compression than other shorts I have. I like this too.

I don't own the PI ultrasensor shorts, so I can't help you with that comparison.

Steve - You may think I'm over thinking it but I have read enough posts about the sizing of the Performance brand shorts and bib to want to ask. Some folks have said that the Performance shorts run a size smaller than other brands. I usually try stuff on before I buy it but don't know of a local store that sells LG.

Gustav - thanks for the feedback. Hearing that you like them on long rides is what I was hoping to hear.
