Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Metric without stopping

102.84 km
31.80 km average (19.75 mph)
3:14:09 total

Starting around here, just south of Blaine, WA:

Turn around point in Sumas, directly east on farm roads along the border:
https://local.google.com/local?f=q&hl...46069&t=h&om=1

That was fun. I ran out of water at the 96k point, so it seems two 830ml bottles was enough. Next step is to get a medium size bento box and try a century with one rest stop around the 100k point. Can anyone suggest a good gel that is about 2-3 times larger than a clif shot?

you did a metric on ~1.7L of water? I'd need about 3L for that distance! You people and your moderate temperatures...

It was mostly sunny, with some clouds, and about 75f. I was only in direct sunlight about half the time. In the middle of July I would have drained both bottles before the 55k point.

Just got back from a 58 mile ride and while it was cloudy and cool, I only had 3 swigs from the water bottle over the whole ride.

Normally anything less than 60 miles and regardless of the weather will only drink 1 bottle.
