indoor trainer question

I bought a Minoura mag trainer. Will it damage the quick release skewers on my road bike? Should I change them for a cheap pair while using the trainer?

chungachanga,

I used a Blackburn indoor trainer for two winters with a mountain bike without noticing any ill-effects on the QR skewers. I finally got the money for a road bike this year so I will be using it on the trainer for this first time soon, as the snow has all but illeminated the idea of riding on the side of the road without getting hit. I don't expect any problems with the road bike, and the manual didn't mention anything regarding damage to the skewers. Shouldn't be a problem - please correct me if I am wrong.

My Minoura mag trainer (850) came with a QR skewer that fits better (obviously) than the one originally on my bike. Perhaps you can order one from them.

i wad up a piece of paper towel or tissue and make a barrier between skewer and contact.

I have been riding different trainers for over 0 years and have never damaged a QR skewer. Ride on!

Sorry! Make that 10 years.

My CycleOps Fluid came with a skewer to use so I'm saving mine for spring.

My trainer did scratch my skewer, so I bought a cheap one and I use that instead when I put my bike on the trainer.
