Mavic Win-Tech, what do you think of this?
I took a closer look at the Mavic Win Teck at my LBS today and liked the display and wireless functions. Not really affordably priced but I like the size of the numbers in the display vs Cateye, for example. What are your experiences with this Mavic unit?

I've been using the WinTech ES for about a year, and I love it.
I think it is the easiest computer to set up, ever. The display is wonderful. Big, and easy to read. I wish the E-Skewer was lighter, though. |
I got the WinTech on my "dream" bike 1.5 years ago. I picked out every component as what I thought was "ideal." The WinTech was the only one I later regretted and switched to a cordless Cateye a few months ago. I agree with the other comments - easy to program, use to see, never malfunctioned, etc. The only thing I didn't like was the huge size of the receiver/display. I thought it detracted from the overall bike appearance.
I put it on my commuter bike and still like using it. But it's like someone posted here last year - "it looks like a headlight on the bars" |
I've had mine with the wireless cadence for about 2300 miles (1.5 years) and it has worked great. The batteries tend to only last 1 year though. No complaints otherwise and I love the fact that I don't have anything strapped to the fork. That outweighs any issues with the size of the display unit for me.

I bought mine with my new bike in August of 04 and loved it until it started to turn off and sometimes on again of it's own volition. I drove me crazy, I must have spent 25 dollars on batteries before finally giving up and ending up with an Astrale 8.
It's sitting in my closet, wanna buy it? |
