Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So I need a coach?

So I need a coach?

Everyone agreed the best use of my money was on a coach, according to this thread. So does anyone know a good coach or trainer in the Lansing, MI area that I could do a few sessions with?

are you a member of a club? they ( or even your LBS) should be able to point you in the direction of at least a few coaches.

Contact some local university cycling teams. Their coaches may be interested in some extra money during the summer.

I still liked the idea of carbon cages the best. Ti seat binder bolt will go fast too.

j/k -- coaching will help more than anything. If you can find a mentor for free long-term, even better. I learned from a US national a-team rider over about 2 years. For free

Not sure if Kevin Lippert is still training anyone. He was in Lansing or St. Johns or somewhere near there.

Also not sure about Daryl Uhler.

ask the folks at Velocipede on Grand River. They're pretty hip to what's going on.
