DFW Father's Day Ride

Anyone up for it?

We can meet at RBM and do the White Rock Lake ride again, or there is a nice 23 mile ride with some decent hills here in the Denton area that we could extend if we want to.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

I am probably in for either one. Wife has not told me what she and the boys have planned, but if we ride early(7:30 or 8:00), I will try to come.

I'm in for Sunday. I think I'm going to take off Saturday to get some other stuff done so I'll be wanting to get some miles in on Sunday. Earlier the better with the heat we've been having. Decide on a location and time and I"ll be there.

8:00 is okay with me. Just like last time. Either location is okay with me was well. I am fine with driving down there, but if you guys want to do some climbing, we can ride up here.

I say lets ride White Rock again. That way we can ride and see bike porn. And yes fixies are welcome.

I didn't have my computer last time, but I think it was between 30-35 mi, but we only did one lap of the lake.

I'm going to try and have the Schwinn Passage ready for a shake down ride by Sunday morning. Else I'll have the Barracuda out for the ride. The trails to and around white rock favor a little wider tire and a few more spokes in the wheel.

I don't know my 21mm vittorias handle it quite well.
I've seen enough low spoke high tension wheels to think it's just fine.
I'm in as long as the back is ok, but I'll probably want to take it easy
(I'm easing back into the riding).

Maybe I just baby my Open Pros too much (though honestly, they probably hold the true better than the machine built 36spoke box rims on the 'Cuda).

I plan to be there rain or shine, if it looks like a serious washout we'll figure out a plan B of some sort. I know the trail can get wet and muddy some times after rains so we can always do the Sache route that RBM does on Saturday mornings with or without any number of extra legs to add miles depending on how far we want to ride and what the weather is doing.

No, we meet at the RBM in Richardson, and ride down to WRL.

Everyone still in weather permitting? If it does rain, I will probably end up going to RBM later in the day to drool over bikes. My wife asked what I wanted to do for Father's Day and that's what I told her. I know, I'm pathetic .

How do you guys get to the trail from RBM? I managed to find Coit on one excursion but it was far too busy to risk it, and all the side streets I found either curved into oblivion or stopped abruptly. Probably just tired, though. Can I get an estimated arrival time for the lake? I live only 3 miles from there so it'd be silly to make the drive to Richardson just to ride back home. Plus the fixie is a workout no matter the mileage.

ride back streets to meandering way, then pick up the trail down to WRL.

I just glued on some new old tubulars that I need to try out,
Yah I'm in. Weather looks dodgy right now, tornado warnings south of us and
a really ugly sky out back. . .
