Very pleased with my new Six13 TeamOne! (PICs)

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Very pleased with my new Six13 TeamOne! (PICs)

On 5/12/2006 I posted that I had finally made a decision on what new bike to purchase after riding my trusted 92' Trek 5200 for nearly 15yrs. PatentCad and a few others responded stating that I would LOVE this bike. Well, after a few rides -- I believe I am in love!

I know it is tough for you die-hard Shimano or Campy folks out there, but I wanted a compact Record carbon crank with my Full DA bike, so that is what I have. I'm pleased with the setup!

As always, this post is USELESS without photos. So, without futher ado ...

Thanks for looking!

Awesome bike, I'm way jealous. I did see a few spots on the frame where Cannondale missed an opportunity to add one more sticker Shame on them, covering a sweet bike like that with all those stickers. I am a little shocked and dismayed to see the mix of Campy and Shimano, but you have to do what you have to do these days.

The main question tho is how's it ride???

Pictures are nice.. Ride report AND pictures is even better.

Congrats. You're going to have a lot of fun this summer

I updated to a TCR Comp 0 a couple of months ago, after 13 years of going back and forth between a '90 pinarello and a '93 cannondale. So far I've put around 2,000 miles on it since Easter, and can't get enough of it.

I"m actually just from taking the C'dale on a 2 hour ride, the 1st time I've been on it since April. Can't believe how clunky it felt now that I'm used to my sweet bike.

Beautiful bike. It was one of my narrowed down choices but.....anyway, I've tested it for few minutes, it's fast, it rockets forward as you stand on the pedals.
Nice bike man!

I think he is just a shill for Cannondale Really nice bike, but as a Cannondale owner myself, I have to agree with the comment on all the stickers.

I've had a 2006 Dura Ace equipped Six13 Team One since October and have logged at least 5000+ miles on it. Best climbing bike ever, responsive, comfortable, etc. Overall the best racing bike I've ridden. My other bike is a Dura Ace equipped Ibis Ti Road, and I actually prefer the Cannondale most of the time. Best racing bike I've personally ridden. By far.

I gotta say: the more I see this ride, the more I hope I'll find a 'leftover' this winter when shopping for a new ride. Has anybody owned one of these and not been impressed?

I'm still waiting to find somebody like that. But if you look at the posts on this think tank you'll see plenty of people pissing on Cannondales. Who have never seen a Six13 in person let alone ridden one.

Just read the press reviews. Find a bad one. Go ahead, let us know if you can. Post the negative review here when you do. We'll be waiting.

Yeah that's why I said "owned". You can always find some crackpot blowhard like me who still has a complex about a C'dale that isn't all aluminum. Nevertheless it's hard to argue with success.

Super looking bike - congratulations! Looking forward to a ride report. At the same time, I have to second the notion that Cannodale has gone overboard with their stickers, I think the bike could look even better if they backed it off a bit.

Replys to everyone ...

Very good question slide! You know, I think I would enjoy most any nice high-end bicycle regardless of the brand, component group brand, etc. I first test rode a 05' Fuji Pro and really liked how it rode -- it may have even been a 1/2 lbs lighter?? And, the black carbon frame with white lettering/logos was nice looking. I then thought I was going to get a Orbea and LOVE the styling of their frames and paint jobs. But, the closest dealer was 2.5hrs away. Then, I thought I had decided on a Devinci CX Carbon frame and would build it up ... but not being able to test ride one and see one in person kind of led me to my current Six13. My LBS owner over 2 days talked to me about the Six13 and gave SUCH a good deal on it that I simply could not pass it up. Now, to answer your actual question ... lightweight, best of both worlds in terms of frame material, long-standing reputable company with good CS, very good looking CAAD8 frames -- rear triangle being used on the Six13, very responsive ride, glides up the hills, you actually "feel" the road talk to you when you are riding, but without it beating you to death like the old Cannondales of the early 90's, and I LOVE the looks of the naked aluminum. I didn't expect it to be as comfy as it is either ... so the best of both worlds in one package. Oh, did I mention I received a FANTASTIC deal on it?!?

Thanks -- yeah, I had to do a little searching to find the white and black carbon bottle cages without having to spend a fortune! I think they turned out pretty well. Yeah, now that you mention it ... I can see my reflection in a couple of them too... dooh!!!!

I'm not certain as I haven't had the opportunity to put it on a reliable scale. With the Keo carbon pedals, I think it should come in just under 17lbs ... does that sound correct Patentcad and other six13 riders? I believe the MFR specs without pedals is just over 16lbs. Not the lightest at this pricepoint, but a pound or two doesn't bother me given that "I" am the one that needs to shed about 10lbs!

Yeah, sorry ... I just had to be different. Status quo didn't get the best of me on this one. Most flat-top bars I've seen being used on our club rides are not taped to the normal area -- althought this may be because we have one primary LBS in the area and they only tape part-way. I like the looks of the bars ... very good looking. And, with the flat top ... hand numbness or pain is greatly reduced. I highly recommend the flat top bars to anyone with hand pain while riding.

... and to the other 2 or 3 folks who mentioned TOO many stickers --> I couldn't agree more. However, they are starting to grow on me and I notice them less and less. And, in fact, I am starting to like them better. But, I would still choose only a main Cannondale logo and maybe one other sub-logo if I had the choice.

A ride report is forthcoming ...
